Profile SBY

Dr. H. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is the President to six and the first president directly elected by the people of Indonesia. Together Drs. M. Jusuf Kalla as his vice president, he was elected in a presidential election in 2004 and brought the agenda "Indonesia is more Just, Peaceful, Prosperous and Democratic", ahead of President Megawati Sukarnoputri with 60% votes. On October 20, 2004 MPR will inaugurate he became President.
 
On October 20, 2009, Dr. H. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono returned at Inaugurated as President for the 2009-2014 period, after being with her partner, Prof.. Dr. Boediono win the Presidential Election on July 8, 2009 in one round directly by gaining 60.80%, beating the pair of Megawati Sukarnoputri, Prabowo Subianto and Muhammad Jusuf Kalla, Wiranto.
 
President SBY, as many people called him, was born on September 9, 1949 in Pacitan, East Java. An accomplished scholar, he earned a Masters in Management from Webster University, the United States in 1991. He continued his study at the Bogor Institute of Agriculture, and in 2004 earned a Doctorate in Agricultural Economics .. In 2005, he was awarded with two Doctor Honoris Causa, each of his alma mater, Webster University for legal studies, and from Thammasat University in Thailand in political science.
 
Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono won the best graduate of the Army military academy in 1973, and continues to serve as military officers over 27 years. He holds the rank of Army General in 2000. Throughout this time, he followed a series of education and training in Indonesia and abroad, among others Seskoad which had also been a lecturer, as well as the Command and General Staff College in the United States. In military duty, he became commander of the army and territorial, staff officer, trainer and lecturer, both at regional and headquarters operations. Assignment of them, Commander of Infantry Brigade 17th Airborne Army Strategic Reserve Command, Commander of the Sriwijaya II Military Command and Chief of Staff of the TNI Territorial.
 
In addition within the country, he also served on foreign missions, such as when the Chief Military Observer of the United Nations Peace Keeping Operations (CMO UNPKO) and Indonesia Contingent Commander in Bosnia Herzegovina in 1995-1996.
 
After serving as a military officer for 27 years, he accelerates forward 5-year retirement period when it served as Minister in 2000. Above dedication, he received 24 marks of honor and decorated, including the United Nations UNPKF Satya Badge, Star and Star Dharma Maha Putra Adipurna. For services that exceed the call of duty, he received the highest decoration in Indonesia, the Republic of Indonesia Adipurna Stars.
 
Prior to being elected, President Yudhoyono held various important government positions, including Minister of Mines and Energy and the Coordinating Minister for Political, Social and Security Affairs at the National Unity Cabinet under President Abdurrahman Wahid. He also served as Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs in the Cabinet Mutual-Aid at the time of President Megawati Sukarnoputri. In his capacity as Coordinating Minister that he is widely known internationally for leading Indonesia's efforts to combat terrorism.
 
President Yudhoyono also been active in various civil society organizations. He has served as Co-Chairman of the Governing Board of the Partnership for the Governance Reform, a joint Indonesian and international organizations to improve governance in Indonesia. He is also Chairman of the Board of the Brighten Institute, an institute studying the theory and practice of national development policies.
 
In recent years, President Yudhoyono is also actively involved in various international forums, including in efforts to save the environment. Since the implementation of the Bali Conference on Climate Change in 2007, resulting in Bali Road Map, up to similar meetings in Copenhagen that produces Copenhagen Accord, President Yudhoyono always make a real contribution. President Yudhoyono also initiated the formation of the Coral Triangle Initiative, which is a cooperative effort between Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Timor Leste and Brunei Darussalam, in protecting the biological diversity of ocean resources in the region, as well as the formation of the Forest - 11 (F -11), group of countries in the world's tropical forest.Upon these efforts, at the opening of the 11th Special Session of the Governing Council / Global Ministerial Environmental Forum in February 2010 and in Bali, President Yudhoyono was awarded UNEP's Leadership Award in the Marine and Ocean Management.
 
President Yudhoyono is a fan of reading with a collection of tens of thousands of books, and has written numerous books and articles like: Transforming Indonesia: Selected International Speeches (2005), Peace deal with Aceh is just a beginning (2005), The Making of a Hero (2005 ), revitalization of the Indonesian Economy: Business, Politics and Good Governance (2002), and Coping with the Crisis - Securing the Reform (1999). There is also a Garden of Life, an anthology he wrote in 2004. President Yudhoyono speaks English fluently.
 
President Yudhoyono is a devout Muslim. He is married to Madam Ani Herrawati and they were blessed with two sons. First, Capt. Inf Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, the best graduates Military Academy in 2000 and has completed Master's Programme in Strategic Studies at the IDSS, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. In late May 2010 which concerned has also completed Master in Public Policy at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA. Has been married to Annisa Larasati Pohan, and has one daughter, Almira Tunggadewi Yudhoyono.
 
Second, Edie Baskoro Yudhoyono, a graduate of bachelor of Commerce Finance and Electronic Commerce from Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Western Australia, and a graduate Master's program in International Political Economy in S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore.Currently active as a member of the House of Representatives and as Secretary General of the Democratic Party.
